A 2.8-magnitude earthquake was reported off the coast of the UAE early on Saturday.
The National Centre of Meteorology said in a post on X that the earthquake was “recorded in Khor Fakkan Coast” at a depth of 5 kilometres.
It occurred at 3:03 a.m. local time.
In its initial report, the NCM said the quake was “felt by residents and had no impact on the UAE”.
It is not yet known whether the quake caused any damage.
Earthquakes are rare in the UAE, but a similar quake occurred in January this year, also measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale.
The UAE was recently hit by devastating floods due to record rainfall, resulting in reported deaths and widespread travel disruptions.
