Meghan Markle is thought to be considering a return to the UK – but only on one condition.
Meghan Markle reportedly has one condition to fulfill before returning to the UK.
According to the Mirror, the Duchess of Sussex wants the couple to have a home of their own as well as adequate security before she considers a return to the UK.
Speaking to the publication, royal expert and author Tom Quinn said: “Meghan said she was only willing to return to England if she and Harry had a home of their own and the security they both felt they needed. “Meghan will never do that. return to the UK and stay with my in-laws.”
He added: “If the couple can find a permanent home and resolve the security issue, they will certainly want to bring their children to the UK, but it will take a lot of diplomacy to get to the point where Archie and Lily can build a sincere and warm relationship with their cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.
Last year, it emerged that the couple had been evicted from Frogmore Cottage, which remained their UK base even after they stepped down as senior working royals in 2020.
The Windsor house has been their permanent residence since their wedding in 2018, and is the first home of their now five-year-old son, Prince Archie.
Having recently won the right to appeal a Home Office decision, it also concludes that the level of protection he and his family receive in the UK is adequate.
Prince Harry lost full tax security in 2020 when they both stepped down as working members of the royal family and moved to the US.
After deciding to leave the service, the couple soon moved to the United States with Archie, who was not even a year old at the time. The couple then welcomed their three-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, to the United States in June 2021.
Meghan was last in the UK in September 2022.
