The Boston Celtics received their NBA championship rings before their opening game against the rival New York Knicks.
The ceremony began with a heartfelt message from player Jayson Tatum, who had a stellar performance in the 2023-24 NBA Finals, averaging 22.2 points in five games. The Celtics leader enjoyed the moment on Tuesday night.
Tatum and his son, Deuce, embraced after getting a glimpse of the NBA’s fine jewelry.
This may not be the last time these two players will be in the spotlight this much as the Celtics continue to lead the league. But Tatum has been working towards it since the franchise selected him third overall in the 2017 draft.
Celtics have high expectations for the 2024-25 NBA season
It’s hard for a historic NBA champion to surpass the success of the previous season, but Tatum and the Celtics team are currently leading the contest. With Tatum at the helm, the roster has a dynamic set of playmakers and supporting cast members who can maintain that excellence for 82 games.
Jaylen Brown continues to be a perfect fit for Boston’s starting lineup, and Derrick White, Jrue Holiday and Al Horford have provided valuable cohesion from last year.
On Tuesday, the Celtics open the season against the Knicks and begin a serious challenge for another title in the highly competitive Eastern Conference.
