Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to have “a back up plan” in place if they are kicked out of the US by Donald Trump, who today won the nation’s presidential election
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be deported from the US by President Donald Trump for “extremely stupid” actions a few years ago.
The Duke of Sussex has detailed his experience with hallucinogens in the past, a confession that could disrupt his visa. In his memoir, Spare, the father of two spoke about taking magic mushrooms at parties in Hollywood and Los Angeles, and marijuana on other occasions.
Royal experts have harshly criticised the admissions, which could prove very costly for Harry and Meghan. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said: “Prince Harry was extremely stupid to talk about his drug use in an interview and in his memoir, Spare magazine. The memoir is available in paperback. However, the Sussexes kept a relatively low profile during the election, urging Americans to vote without making it clear who they were voting for.
“It was previously thought that Meghan might enter politics, but there are no signs of this happening. If it were to be revealed that she had concealed drug use on her visa application, it is highly unlikely that President Trump would risk an embarrassing incident involving the royal family by expelling Prince Harry.”
During an interview with GB News earlier that year, President Trump was asked by Nigel Farage whether Prince Harry had “special privileges.” Trump, who was convicted in May of 34 counts of falsifying business records, responded: “We need to find out if they know anything about drugs and if he is lying, we will have to take appropriate action.”
Farage pressed further, “Appropriate action?” Does that mean… not staying in the United States?’” With that in mind, Trump responded, “Oh, I don’t know. It has to be said. Just tell us. The royal couple, who relocated to the US in 2020, are thought to have a “Plan B” ready and already preparing for the worst-case scenario. They are thought to be searching for a residence, setting up a new villa in Portugal, close to the home owned by Prince Harry’s beloved younger cousin, Princess Eugenie, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
In a memorable passage in Spare magazine published in January 2023, Prince Harry recounted his experience taking magic mushrooms at a Hollywood party, recalling: “He stared back at me and I said, ‘What are you staring at?’ And it became… a head.” I press the pedal and my head opens up. It’s a big smile.”
In a candor rarely seen from a senior member of the royal family, the father of two admitted that while cocaine “did nothing” for him, “marijuana is different. It actually really helps. It helped me.”
