Vogue editor Anna Wintour has given an insight into her royal “dream couple” to attend the Met Gala, but it is not Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Despite claiming that the Duchess of Sussex would be a “dream guest” at the event, which she is a co-chair of, the fashion legend has said she wants Meghan to attend with Princess Kate.

Back in 2019 she told Today: “I would love to have the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge [Kate’s then-title prior to becoming the Princess of Wales] together. That would be my dream couple.”

Ms Wintour did not appear to have any interest in Prince William or Prince Harry accompanying them, as she said: “They could leave their husbands at home. It’s the two of them I want.”

There have been rumours of the Sussexes attending the Met Gala for years, but once again they were not present in New York last night for the biggest event of the fashion calendar.

Of course, the Vogue editor’s views may have changed since then. A year after her interview, the Sussexes stepped down as active members of the royal family.

Meghan and Kate were never close, and at Prince Harry’s wedding in 2018, Duchess Meghan reportedly made Meghan cry during an argument over her bridesmaid’s dress. .

It was initially reported that Kate was the one who shed tears. However, in Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, the princess was granted a reprieve, saying: “Kate quickly turned things around, admitting that newspaper reports that Meg had made her cry were completely false.”

The princess then gave him flowers.” Despite Meghan’s intention to apologize, it appears that she and Prince William have no intention of reuniting with the Sussexes any time soon.

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Duchess Kate implored fans not to pit her against her sister-in-law.

She told the host: “I think a lot of what I’ve seen is this bipolar idea that if you love me, you don’t have to hate me.” And if you love her, you don’t have to hate me on May 8th.

However, Meghan’s biographer Omid Scobie previously said the Duchess had no intention of ever setting foot in the UK again, so she doubts Meghan will accompany her.

The last time Meghan Markle was with Prince Harry was at the Platinum Jubilee service at St Paul’s College in June 2022.
