Paramount Pictures on Wednesday (Oct. 2, 2024) released the trailer for Better Man, an upcoming music biopic about British pop star Robbie Williams.

The film is directed by The Greatest Showman creator Michael Gracey and is set to open in select U.S. theaters on Dec. 25, before hitting all major theaters on Jan. 17.

In a rather interesting twist, the film features Robbie Williams as a CGI monkey. “I’m one of the biggest pop stars in the world, but I’ve always thought of myself as a little bit unevolved,” he says in the trailer, as we follow the crazy journey of how a boy grew into one of the biggest superstars in the world of pop music.

“Better Man is based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall and remarkable comeback of British pop superstar Robbie Williams, one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Under the visionary direction of Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), the film is uniquely told from Robbie’s perspective, capturing his trademark wit and indomitable spirit.

The film follows Robbie’s journey from his childhood, through his career as the youngest member of chart-topping boy band Take That, to his unprecedented success as a record-breaking solo artist, all while facing the challenges that come with stratospheric fame and success,” says the film’s official plot.

Jono Davis stars as an ape version of the singer, and the series also stars Steve Pemberton, Damon Herriman, Rachelle Banno, Alison Steadman, Kate Mulvaney, Fraser Hadfield, Tom Budge and Anthony Hayes. Written by Gracey, Simon Gleeson and Oliver Cole, Better Man is produced by Paul Curry, Michael Gracey, Coco Xiaolu Ma, Jules Daly and Craig McMahon.
