Dubai: A 6km-long public access road connects Sheikh Zayed Road directly to the coveted Palm Jebel Ali. Nakheel has signed the contract to start the road, the lead developer announced on Sunday, May 26th.
The company also signed a contract to improve the paving and lighting of Al Hesa Road (formerly Abu Dhabi Road) on the Dubai Waterfront, which connects the Palm Jebel Ali to the mainland.
Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, said the palm-shaped man-made archipelago, which is twice the size of Palm Jumeirah, will have a future capacity of about 3. It is said that 5,000 families will live there.
He announced the appointment of DBB Contracting and Khansaheb Civil Engineering as “partners in the next phase of development” for the island.
Palm Jebel Ali looks set to be the next big thing in Dubai’s real estate industry. The island spans 13.4 km and has an area of 10.5 million square meters. It is made up of 16 islands with a total of 110 km of coastline and 91 km of beaches. It will house more than 80 hotels and resorts, as well as entertainment and leisure facilities.
When Nakheel put his first villa up for sale in September last year, it sold out within hours. Real estate agents and investors lined up for the sale.
The island was Dubai’s best-performing region in the fourth quarter of 2023, with revenue of AED 14.2 billion.
