Emirates Red Crescent Society (ERC) has begun construction on a new expansion of the Sheikh Zayed Women’s Hospital in Larkana, Sindh, Pakistan, as part of its development efforts in the healthcare sector.

This expansion is also in line with the UAE’s efforts to rebuild and repair Pakistan’s infrastructure and support the development sector, with the aim of providing advanced medical services and expanding the scope of the hospital’s medical programs. There is.

This includes introducing new medical services, expanding the hospital’s current capacity to 200 beds, and creating a surgical complex with four operating theatres, a 15-bed recovery ward and a medical training unit. It will be.

In addition, the expansion will include an emergency medical center with six units equipped for carrying out emergency treatment, ultrasound and electrocardiography, as well as an examination room, an endoscopy department, a medical fitness area, It will also include a diagnostic center with vaccination rooms.

The expansion will also modernize the hospital’s sewage system and infrastructure, replacing outdated medical equipment with modern equipment.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the ERC delegation currently visiting Pakistan, led by ERC Secretary-General Rashid Mubarak Al Mansoori, and Fahad Abdulrahman bin Sultan ERC Secretary-General for Development and International Cooperation Deputy Director General and Director Obaid Al Balsi were also present. He explained that Sheikh Zayed Women’s Hospital in Sindh plays an important role in providing healthcare to the local population. Therefore, the ERC has begun maintaining and expanding the hospital, introducing new additions to improve its ability to continue providing medical and health services to its beneficiaries, he added.

Al Remeithi said the hospital’s expansion reflects the UAE’s commitment, through its humanitarian arm, the ERC, to supporting its developmental and humanitarian initiatives in Pakistan, especially in the healthcare sector.

The hospital is a prominent medical landmark in the region, having provided healthcare services to local residents for five decades. This expansion marks a new chapter and a qualitative leap in its healthcare and treatment programmes, benefitting the people of Sindh, he added.

The Sheikh Zayed Hospital for Women was established on 12th March, 1974. It has been providing medical and treatment services annually to some 500,000 people in the region for the past fifty years without interruption and handles 120,000 childbirth cases each year.
