Glastonbury Festival fans all shared the same complaint as Coldplay began their headlining set on Saturday night.

It was a great night for Coldplay, including lead singer Chris Martin, who played the Worthy Farm Pyramid Stage for a record-breaking fifth time. No other artist has headlined the event more than she has.

As the show began, broadcast on the BBC for those at home, fans were quick to share their thoughts as the band behind hits like Yellow, Viva La Vida and A Sky Full of Stars took to the stage.

They began their performance with the song “Yellow” and then moved into their hit “Higher Power.” However, once the performance began, fans couldn’t help but share their thoughts on social media.

Coldplay were the Saturday headline act

One person wrote: “Don’t get me wrong I love Coldplay but headlining #Glastonbury 5 times is totally ridiculous. No band or artist should headline this often. #Coldplay #ColdplayGlastonbury #Glastonbury24”, and a second added: “If #Coldplay were playing in my garden I’d draw the curtains. How can #Glastonbury headline 5 times?!” and a third added: “I really feel sorry for the hundreds of thousands of people who paid good money for a boring headliner at #Glastonbury. #boring #snoozefest.”

However, some fans were excited to see her back at the farm. One wrote: “#Coldplay are and always will be absolutely incredible. #Glastonbury,” one wrote, while another added: “Coldplay – headlining #Glastonbury 5 times,” while a third wrote: “How amazing Glastonbury is with Coldplay light up wristbands #Glastonbury #Coldplay,” while a fourth shared: “Coldplay might not be what everyone thinks of as Glastonbury headliners but they are definitely one of the best.” live – Acts of the world #Glastonbury.”

Chris Martin previously said that the group almost missed their first ever performance at Glastonbury.

In the BBC documentary Coldplay: Our Glastonbury, he said: “For our first performance we were probably carrying some not-so-good amps with our drunk tour manager and he clearly didn’t know what he was doing. So we just had a quick look around the venue and started where we should have started – the new bands’ tent. I don’t think we ever considered how wild it was going to be there. It was like I was here too late and it was so big.”

Coldplay made their Glastonbury debut in 1999 in the New Bands Tent, before returning in 2002, 2005, 2011, 2016 and of course this year as headliners on the legendary Pyramid Stage in the coveted Saturday night slot.
