After Madrid beat Dortmund 2-0 in the Wembley final, Bellingham became a Champions League winner at the age of 20.

Although Borussia Dortmund had the better chances, Real Madrid showed why they are the undisputed kings of Europe, winning a record 15th Champions League title.

The win capped Bellingham’s incredible debut season with Madrid. The Birmingham-born England star scored 23 goals in all competitions and also lifted the La Liga trophy.

When asked how it felt to win Europe’s premier club competition, an emotional Bellingham stopped, put his head in his hands and said, “I’ve always dreamed of playing in a game like this.”

“You go through life and a lot of people tell you you can’t do anything. Days like today remind you why you do it. Sometimes it’s hard and you question if it’s worth it, but nights like this make you realize that.

“It was fine until I got on my mom and dad’s nerves. They would take me to games in the evenings and on weekends.

My brother is there too so I try to be an example to him. I can’t put it into words. It’s the best night of my life.

Madrid, who beat defending champions Manchester City in the quarter-finals, had to withstand immense pressure from Dortmund but the Germans came close thanks to Niklas Füllkrug and Karim Adeyemi.

At half-time there was a sense that the missed chances against Borussia Dortmund would be avenged but late goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior ensured that Real Madrid were crowned European champions once again.

“Madrid are mental monsters,” former Premier League striker Chris Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live. “They barely had a shot in the first half, but in the second half they held on until Dani Carvajal headed in a corner.

`From that moment on, they had everything under control. Vinicius Jr. scored the second and that was the end of the game.

`It’s about finding ways to win. There’s a lot of belief and confidence in this team. They’ve done it before and they’re doing it again. Another night of victory.”
