An orange warning was issued on Thursday as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was hit by heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Many residents did not have to leave their homes to go to work today, but some woke up early as rain and strong winds battered the neighborhood. A waterfall was flowing north while black rain clouds hovered over the mountain.
Heavy rain has been falling across the country since midnight. According to a National Center of Meteorology (NCM) warning, showers and lightning struck Dubai as early as 2:35am.
The NCM has issued an orange warning for most of the country, predicting hazardous weather events until 8pm tonight.

At around 4am, thick clouds covered Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, and rain and lightning pounded the city centre.

In the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah, residents photographed a gushing waterfall:
