Iran is reportedly preparing a massive attack against Israel following concerns there would be escalation in the Middle East following IDF strikes on Lebanon
Iran is preparing an imminent missile attack against Israel, according to White House sources.
CNN`s senior White House correspondent MJ Lee said a White House official said an Iranian attack against Israel was imminent. In a post shared on X/Twitter, she said: ““The United States has indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel.
“We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack. A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran.”
There has been rife speculation that Iran would respond with force against Israel following numerous strikes against terrorist organisation Hezbollah, an Iranian ally operating in southern Lebanon. Israel launched numerous strikes into Lebanon which resulted in the deaths of multiple Hezbollah leaders.
Following numerous strikes, Israel launched a ground invasion into southern Lebanon in what it called a “limited, localised and targeted” raids against Hezbollah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the country’s invasion of southern Lebanon.
According to Axios political reporter Barak Ravid, Netanyahu said: “We are in the midst of a campaign against Iran’s axis of evil. We must stand together. We will stand firm together in the challenging days ahead.”
Israeli Defense Force spokesperson Daniel Hagari claimed Hezbollah had a plan to “conquer the Galilee” and commit another October 7-style massacre. Hundreds of Israelis were killed or taken hostage in the attacks on October 7 last year when Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip entered Israel.
The attack was one of the deadliest attacks in Israeli history and led to the country launching missile strikes into Gaza which resulted in the killing of numerous Hamas terrorists alongside dozens of innocent civilians. Amid the ongoing war in Gaza, Israel has launched missile strikes into Lebanon, including its capital Beirut.
It has been part of Israel’s stated offensive against Hezbollah, which supports Hamas, although there is intense speculation it was also behind the exploding pager attack that led to 2,750 people being wounded. The pagers are understood to have originally owned or have been in the ownership of people connected to Hezbollah, although civilians were among the casualties.
