Anyone who shops at John Lewis is aware that November 1 marks the start of their annual Christmas ad, which is just a few weeks or even days away. The good news is that we can watch a teaser trailer while we wait.
The home furnishings, fashion, beauty, and technology retailer teamed up with Saatchi & Saatchi for the short video. They focused on a striking pink jersey, and the video may make you cry a little bit.
The festive advertisement, which is called “Give Knowingly,” follows the ups and downs of the standout garment as the actress Samantha Morton, who is the clip’s narrator, tells viewers that the bold color was not one the recipient would have chosen for herself.
She can be heard saying, “Knowing you’re not into pink, but your mother knows it suits you and that this will become the jumper,” as a young girl neatly wraps it in white and red striped wrapping paper.
The clip shows the female recipient putting on the jumper, taking it off, and leaving it on a chair at a holiday party. However, as mom was aware, the jumper would soon become a favorite piece of clothing.
As the woman accidentally spills some jam on the pink jumper, Samantha exclaims, “In four years, you’ll be cross with yourself when you -.” Oh my God.’ She goes on.
Snippets show the woman putting the statement piece in a box for later because she has pink hair and “pink on pink is too much pink.” She leaves it over the back of the couch while reading a book. Be that as it may, it before long winds up back in the colder time of year wooly pivot.
“You’ll rediscover it,” Samantha promises in a soft voice. Even if you don’t know it yet, you’ll be wearing it when you and Jo become a couple. “Just know, it’s for you and the person who gave it to you,” the advertisement concludes.
This is the second teaser that John Lewis has released in advance of their annual full-length Christmas advertisement, which is anticipated to be released in the upcoming weeks. In the past, it has always been released on a Thursday in the first or second week of November; however, the exact date on which it will be available to eager fans is unknown at this time.
The previous year’s advertisement debuted on November 9th, so if that is any indication, the full-length clip may debut as early as Thursday, November 7th, the following week.
Regardless, many customers took to social media to voice their opinions after the advertisement of today proved to be a bittersweet success. On Instagram, one user wrote: oh, how sweet! Indeed, the humble sweater tells a story.
Another person said, Watching this was hard. Hold your mothers close and express how much you love them, as my mother passed away last Christmas.
While a user of X stated, The ad is lovely, and the jumper is also lovely. As always, I am looking forward to this year’s Christmas commercial.
On their website, the retailer stated, “even if they don’t know it yet,” that “we’ve helped our customers find that perfect gift” for over 160 years.
