After being invited to Windsor Castle to take pictures with Prince William, the Princess of Wales gave a young cancer patient a hug.

In a moving scene, the Prince of Wales asked 16-year-old photographer Liz Hatton to join him at an investiture he was holding to photograph participants such as legendary cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish, former rugby referee Waynes Barnes, and Scottish footballing legend Ali McCoist. Hatton is bravely fighting a rare and aggressive tumor. Liz, who is from Harrogate in Yorkshire, has set a goal for herself to participate in as many photography experiences as she can. After the future King learned about her through the London Air Ambulance Charity, which he is patron of, he personally invited her.

After being diagnosed with cancer in February, the Princess of Wales made the announcement last month that she had completed her chemotherapy regimen. William and Kate wrote on Wednesday night in a private Facebook post, ” It was a pleasure to meet Liz today at Windsor.

“A young talented photographer whose strength and creativity have inspired us both. We appreciate you sharing your story and photos with us. W&C.” After meeting the prince and princess at the castle, Liz said she was “over the moon.”

She wrote on social media, “Such lovely, genuine, and kind people, I’m over the moon that my family and I had this experience.” It is the first time the princess has been seen in an official capacity since she announced she would slowly return to duties after nine months away to concentrate on her recovery. The meeting with Liz took place after the investiture in private.

The future queen admitted that “my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes” in an emotional audio statement over an intimate video of the princess with husband Prince William and their three children in the Norfolk countryside. Kate, who is expected to be with other senior royals at the Cenotaph Remembrance Day services next month in what could be her first official engagement since her return, was pictured embracing Liz in a burgundy trouser suit and beige top.

Along with Liz’s family, which included her mother Vicky, stepfather Aaron, and brother Mateo, the prince and princess also took part in a group photo. After receiving a diagnosis of desmoplastic small round cell tumor in January, the teen began a photography bucket list appeal.

Vicky Roboyna, her mother, stated in June that her daughter has been given between six months and three years to live by doctors. The prince invited Liz to photograph investiture recipients receiving their honors from William and to learn about the day’s photographs.

On Kensington Palace’s social media, she posted pictures of herself with footballer Karen Carney and cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish. According to Kensington Palace, William learned about Liz from his patronage of the London Air Ambulance Charity. “Both the Prince and Princess of Wales met privately with Liz and her family after the investiture to hear about her day and journey,” a Palace spokesperson stated.
