King Charles and Prince Harry have not met during the Duke of Sussex’s visit to the UK this week with immediate hopes of a reconciliation dashed.
King Charles snubbed a meeting with Prince Harry because he wanted no part in the “media circus” surrounding his son’s arrival in the UK, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex arrived in London to attend a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games on Wednesday.
Prince Harry finished the service at around 6:45 p.m. at St. Paul’s Cathedral, just a few miles from Buckingham Palace, where the monarch hosted a garden party.
Earlier this week, the Prince’s press secretary said that he would not meet his father during his visit to the UK, citing His Majesty’s “busy schedule”.
However, royal expert Robert Jobson believes there are important reasons why the couple have not met and warns that father and son are still no closer to reconciling.
He told The Sun: “People think that once Harry rolls into town, there’s going to be some sort of reconciliation.”
“It’s going to take time to rebuild and I don’t think we’re at the point where we’re going to rebuild trust yet.”
Mr Jobson added: “When Harry said his father was there, he effectively came to visit on his own.” When someone gets cancer, many people think of it as a good thing. Probably.
“But my understanding at the time was that the King did not want the media hype that would accompany Prince Harry’s arrival.”
