Ahead of King Charles’ visit to Australia and Samoa with Camilla Down Under later this year, a royal source has provided an update on King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

A royal source giving an update on His Majesty’s cancer diagnosis said King Charles is on a “positive trajectory.”

The 75-year-old monarch was diagnosed with the disease in February and has been undergoing treatment every week since.

He initially took time off from royal duties to focus on his recovery, but later returned to a full work schedule.

The King and Queen have been planning a conjugal trip to Australia and Samoa, and spent the summer at Balmoral. Ahead of the trip, a source gave an unofficial update on his mystery cancer, and it sounds like good news. A source told MailOnline: “Even if developments are very positive, his health must remain the number one priority.”

Earlier this week, the Queen also gave an update on her husband’s condition during a visit to the state today. She officially opened the state-of-the-art Dyson Cancer Centre in Bath. She met with patients, staff and supporters at the centre, which serves more than half a million people across the South West.

Speaking to Suzie Moon of Macmillan Partnership, who enquired about the King’s wellbeing, the Queen reiterated that “he is in very good spirits”.

Within weeks of his cancer he stepped away from royal life, while Prince William also stayed by his wife’s side to focus on caring for their three young children.

Camilla, 77, chatted lightly with Paul Holdway, a 55-year-old nurse and patient undergoing a stem cell transplant to treat blood cancer. When asked “How are you feeling?” Holdway replied “Very tired”, but the Queen replied with humor: “Men don’t admit that”, referring to her husband, Charles.

In March, the Duchess announced in an emotional video that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing major abdominal surgery and preventive chemotherapy. She took some time off from her royal duties but made a triumphant return in the Trooping the Colour parade in June.

Before her appearance in the parade, she released a statement talking about her recovery. “I am making good progress but, as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days,” the princess said.

“On the bad days I feel weak and tired and I need to allow my body to rest.” But when you have a good day and you feel strong, you want to make the most of it.”
