Kolkata rape-murder case: CBI sends team for psychoanalysis of accused

A team of experts from Delhi’s Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) has been sent to Kolkata to carry out a psychoanalysis and multi-layered voice analysis of the man accused of raping and murdering a 31-year-old woman doctor at RG Kar in the city. The hospital will be transferred, officials familiar with the matter said on Saturday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has sent a team to West Bengal as part of its investigation into the case, will also approach the court seeking the appropriate permission, the people said. A lie detector test (also known as a polygraph test) will be conducted on Sanjay Roy.

“A special team from CFSL’s Psychological and Behavioural Analysis Wing has already arrived in Kolkata on Saturday and is conducting psychoanalysis and multi-layered voice analysis tests,” the official said, adding that such tests will help investigators analyse whether a person has any of the following symptoms: Is concealing information or not.

A 25-member team from the central agency is stationed in Kolkata to complete the investigation into the case.

Also being questioned was Dr. Sandip Ghosh, former director of RG Kar Hospital, who continued for a second consecutive day on Saturday.

According to people familiar with the matter, Ghosh reached the CBI office in Salt Lake City around 10.30 am on Saturday.

On August 9, the body of a 31-year-old intern was found in a seminar room at the state hospital. Roy, a volunteer, was arrested in the case the next day.
