Champions City dominated possession throughout the game at Molineux, but Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen pulled off a surprise in the seventh minute with a perfect cross for Nelson Semedo from close range.

Semedo missed a golden chance to put Wolves further ahead one-on-one, but after Ederson parried the ball, City defender Josko Gvardiol picked up the ball in free space and fired home in the 33rd minute. A superb shot sailed past Jose Sa and into the goal for a deserved equaliser.

Stone’s added-time goal was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and awarded to the delight of manager Pep Guardiola and the accompanying fans.

City now have 20 points on goal difference and are two points ahead of Liverpool, who face Chelsea later on Sunday. The Wolves are bottom of the table, one point behind, and are yet to win this season.
