Jay Slater’s best friend has called on British police to join in the search for the missing teenager.

Lucy May Law, 18, is thought to be the last person Jay contacted before his phone died. “We need British police here. We just want to find his mate. He’s been missing for three days.” The situation is not good at the moment. It’s up to us to find him and I feel we are doing more than the police.

“The police here don’t speak English and after three days I don’t even have a translator. I feel like they’re ignoring me. They still ask me the same questions they did when I first reported Jay missing.”

She added, “The two boys he was last with have moved out of the country. They should be questioned by British police.”

Lucy, who has just completed a university course in travel and tourism, is looking out over the valley where Jay’s phone is said to have last rang. “A woman said she last saw Jay walking at 8am. She said the house belonged to her brother.”

Lucy’s mother Rebecca, 46, who works as a midwife, said: “Jay has almost finished his training as a bricklayer and was thinking of buying a van. Jay’s mother is shocked.

“She wants them to find him. His father was looking up here yesterday. His brother is here now too and is being looked after by their mother. Debbie went to the LA police station this morning but they kept asking her the same questions.

Another friend of Jay’s said: “I heard the two boys Jay was last with are from Luton – one is known by the nickname Johnny Vegas – I’m sure they know something.

“Island police say they have a copy of your passport but I’ve heard you flew back to Gatwick yesterday. Yesterday I drove 12 hours through the valley and got out of the car calling for Jay’s name but they couldn’t find anything.”
