Experts from the UAE’s meteorological department assured that the forthcoming showers pose no concerns and these rains will ‘not even be comparable’ to last week’s event.

The country is preparing for additional rainy conditions starting Monday following the onslaught of record-breaking rainfall during Tuesday’s destructive storms.

The United Arab Emirates, known for its dry climate, has been hit by heavy rains, making it the heaviest rainfall event in 75 years.

Seven emirates suffered unprecedented flooding as rainfall totaled more than 100mm in 24 hours, affecting highways, homes and critical infrastructure.

Temperatures drop on Wednesday

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) told Khaleej Times that light to moderate rain is possible on Monday night, but in parts of the emirate the following day. Additional rainfall is expected in the region, he said. No need to worry.

Weather conditions are expected to improve by Wednesday, with temperatures expected to drop by 5 to 7 degrees.

Dr. Ahmed Habib, a climate expert at the National Center for Meteorology (NCM), said: There is currently no heavy rain. It’s no different than what happened last week. It’s not intense. The rain is fairly mild with clouds moving from the west coast towards the United Arab Emirates.

“Light rain or drizzle is possible.” These clouds will move towards Abu Dhabi, where light rain will occur, and then spread eastward towards the mountains, where clouds will form, with the possibility of moderate to heavy rain only in mountainous areas. “On Wednesday morning, all clouds outside the UAE will move towards Oman,” he added. Habib added.

In his latest five-day forecast, the NCM said Tuesday will be partly cloudy with a chance of rain in various parts of the country and temperatures will drop in some coastal areas.

When asked if Dubai and Sharjah are likely to be affected by rain, the veteran weather forecaster added: “Dubai and Sharjah may experience light to moderate rain. Actually, the temperate version is closer to the mountains. Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain in the north can also experience rain.

“Rain will begin at midday on Monday, and cloud cover will gradually increase overnight.Moderate rain is possible in the east throughout Tuesday, especially during the day. “Temperatures will generally increase in the UAE tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, with temperatures expected to drop by 5 to 7 degrees on Wednesday,” he said. Habib.

Dr. Habib highlighted the UAE’s current spring season, explaining: “We are currently in the transition period from winter to summer.” “Spring often experiences both stable and unstable weather conditions.”
