Mumbai Police on Sunday clarified that a false complaint was filed against actor Raveena Tandon with the Khar Police, accusing her of being drunk, rash driving and assault.

Ms Tandon shared a screenshot of a post from ‘Viral Bhayani’ on ‘X’ saying that the complainant filed a false complaint in the case and after checking the CCTV footage it was found that Raveena’s car did not hit anyone and she was not drunk.

The post said that while speaking to a Mumbai-based daily, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajtilak Roshan of Zone 9 said that the complaint was false.

“The complainant had made a false report in the alleged video. We checked all the CCTV footage from the apartment complex and found that the actress’ driver had driven his car off the road and was returning to the apartment when the family was about to cross the same lane. The family stopped the car and asked the driver to check if there is anyone behind the car and then return. An argument then began between the family members,” the DCP told the paper.

As the argument became heated, Raveena came to the spot to check on the driver and tried to protect him from the mob. The two filed a complaint at Khar police station but later withdrew it.

“The argument escalated into verbal abuse and actress Raveena Tandon reached the accident spot to ascertain what had happened to the driver. The actress tried to protect the driver from the mob, but they started abusing her.

Raveena Tandon and her family members went to Khar police station and lodged a written complaint. Later, both of them also submitted letters stating that they did not wish to file a complaint,” DCP Rajtilak Roshan said.

DCP Rajtilak Roshan further said, “We have notified the police of the incident. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we are sorry for the inconvenience.” A review of the video footage revealed that the car did not hit anyone. The actress was not drunk.”

In another screenshot shared by Raveena in the same post, Mumbai Police was quoted as saying by an online portal that both sides deny the allegations.

“Tandon’s driver tried to reverse the car, causing three members of a family to fear they might be hit. After an argument, both parties left the spot, following which police reached the accident spot and questioned Tandon’s associate. A case was also reported to the police station. Both have denied the charges,” Mumbai Police was quoted as saying.

The post said that the police statement came after a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms. In it, Raveena Tandon is heard asking people to stay calm and saying, “Don’t hit me.”
