Police in Greater Manchester and Merseyside have released new images of people wanted in connection with last week’s riots.

This comes as courts have already convicted people who took part in the violence. To date, they have been given prison sentences of up to three years.

Fears of a demonstration of more than 100 right-wing extremists disappeared on Wednesday night, with thousands of anti-racism protesters taking to the streets instead.

Police hope this marks a turning point in the unrest that began after the stabbing and false deaths of three girls in Southport Rumours circulated that the attackers were asylum seekers.

Meanwhile, a suspended Labour MP has been arrested after allegedly saying at a demonstration that “fascists’ throats should be slit”.

Greater Manchester Police on Thursday night released the following images of people being pursued following disturbances in Bolton city centre on August 4.

Merseyside Police also released CCTV images of people being pursued following riots in Liverpool and Southport.

“I have a clear message to anyone looking to cause trouble here: we will find you and we will bring you to justice,” warned Merseyside Crime Commissioner Paul Speight.

He said detectives had spent hours examining CCTV and mobile phone camera footage.

Police have so far made 46 arrests and charged 17 people, seven of whom have already been charged.

Another set of images was released on Thursday, including a suspect wanted in connection with the disturbance outside a Rotherham hotel.

Anyone who recognises anyone in the images is urged to contact the appropriate police force or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
