Noel and Liam Gallagher met in person and “laughed and joked around” while posing for a photoshoot promoting Oasis’ comeback.
Oasis reunite next year for 14 UK shows, their first live show in 16 years. Tickets go on sale on Saturday. Oasis released the photo along with the new reunion tour dates, but some fans were unsure whether Liam and Noel were posing together or if the image was two photos stitched together.
However, a source close to the Gallagher family confirmed that they had taken a photo together. The source said: “We know it looks photoshopped but they were both there and they met. They laughed and joked. It was good to see each other again after all these years.”
Reports earlier this week suggested the pair had initially reconciled over the phone in recent weeks, but photographer Simon Emmett had actually put them in the same room together. Though shorter than Liam in real life, he appears taller than his brother in the photograph, perhaps because Liam is leaning towards the lens.
More importantly, the brothers are once again discussing Liam’s news with each other and to their fans. Liam toured the UK this summer on their Definitely Maybe Tour, to mark the 30th anniversary of their 1994 release.
Noel has been conspicuously absent from concerts, but during his Cardiff show he dedicated Half The World Away to his “brother” and said he was “still playing those hard to reach songs”. Liam also performed a string of Oasis hits during his headline performance at Leeds Festival on Friday night.

Fans were also surprised by a series of tributes Noel paid to Liam in an interview with music journalist John Robb released last week at Shifters Records in Manchester to mark the album’s 30th anniversary. Noel said of Liam’s performances on some of his hits, “It’s the way he delivers his voice, or the tone of his voice, and the attitude.
“I don’t have the same attitude as him.” He also joked, likening Liam’s voice to “ten shots of tequila on a Friday night” and his own to “half a Guinness on a Tuesday”.
Although Oasis last performed together in Paris in 2009, the brothers have already spoken to each other again, confirming that their decades-long war of words is over. During their time apart, Noel formed the High Flying Birds and Liam formed the band Beady Eye and later began his solo career.
Despite signing up for a reunion show, there are fears that the famous brothers are not ready to forget the past. Some music insiders say the long-running feud between them has finally resolved and that the only reason for them to get the band back together is money.
A source told MailOnline: “Noel would only consider sharing the stage with Liam again if there was an astronomical amount of money available and it convinced him.” They have yet to resolve their issues and Noel will always have major misgivings about being in a band with Liam as he is an unpredictable person both on and off stage.
It is a liability that Noel can’t really handle Liam’s form and certain conditions need to be in place to ensure he is included in this comeback.” It’s “life-changing” money for any rich star. It is thought that the pair could each get a staggering £50 million.
