Recently released footage shows the continuing land and air search for missing British teenager Jay Slater.

The search for the 19-year-old from Lancashire who went missing in Tenerife has entered its tenth day.

He has been missing since Monday 17th June.

Friends he was holidaying with last heard from him at around 8.30am that morning.

He told them he had missed his bus and was planning to walk back to his accommodation, a walk that would take around 11 hours.

The search is now focused on Masca, a mountainous area on the western edge of the island.

The village, which has a population of about 90 people, sits at an altitude of 650 metres and is said to be where Mr Slater was when he was last heard from.

The search continues

The Spanish police footage was released after Mr Slater’s father said the family had been left in the dark by some officers.

It shows helicopters searching the mountainous area and search teams on foot supported by sniffer dogs.

They then enter woodland and begin searching the mountainous areas.

In one clip, a police officer uses binoculars to try to find any trace of the missing teenager.

A 35-second montage of clips was posted to the Guardia Civil account on social media platform X.

“We continue to search for a young British man missing in Tenerife,” police said in a post on Tuesday night.

“Various Guardia Civil units in the area are involved, and are being assisted by officers in Madrid with specialist people-finding dogs.”

But The Times reports that the dogs were not given any of Slater’s clothing that might record the incident. Tracking.

Corpse-detection dogs are trained to track human remains without a specific request.

Mayor Emilio Jose Navarro told Reuters some local residents had been questioned by police,

, including some who claimed to have seen Slater watching a European match on the beach.
