A royal expert has claimed that King Charles is keen to give his grandson Prince Archie, a unique gift for his fifth birthday.
Prince Harry has “denied” claims that King Charles is preventing him from giving his grandson Prince Archie a unique birthday present worth around £18,000.
A source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has denied claims that the couple are opposed to the royal family’s proposal for their son, who turns five on Monday.
Royal author Tom Quinn says that King Charles offered to give Archie a playhouse in a shepherd’s hut, complete with a bunk and a bookshelf. He said the monarch had previously given Prince George a similar cottage and wanted to do the same for Archie to show the same love for all five of his grandchildren.
However, Ms Quinn claims that Meghan often asks Archie about the British-based royal family and that she wants his birthday to be tied to American traditions.
The author says Archie, who is sixth in line to the British throne, is fascinated by the idea of his grandfather living in the castle, and Meghan fears the generous gift will further pique his interest in the royal heritage. He said he was doing it.
These claims were dismissed by a source close to the Sussexes, as Mr Quinn told the Mirror: “Charles gave Archie a luxurious handmade sheep rather than a plastic children’s playhouse.” He also suggested giving them a coop and a bookshelf.
