According to reports, Prince Harry has sought advice from former advisers on how to plan his return to the UK from the US.
A source told the Mail on Sunday that the Duke of Sussex has spoken to people from his “old life” as a working senior member of the royal family.
An anonymous source cited by the publication was quoted as saying that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not seeking a permanent return to the UK.
A source said Prince Harry has turned his back on Hollywood publicists and is seeking “advice” from old friends and colleagues.
They added, “He’s clearly on the lookout for talent and thinking, ‘What I’m doing is obviously not working so I need to do something different.'” In short, he is rethinking his approach.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle left the UK for North America shortly after stepping down as senior working royals in January 2020. The couple settled in Montecito, California, with their children Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibeth Diana.
The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex attended the funeral of their mother’s brother-in-law, Sir Robert Fellowes, on Thursday (August 29). However, they were said to have kept their distance and not spoken to each other.
Tensions between the royal siblings date back to the early stages of Prince Harry and Meghan’s relationship, when there was an altercation between the then-fiancé and the Princess of Wales ahead of their wedding.
In his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry has made a series of allegations against his brother and other members of the royal family, including the claim that Prince William ignored him in an argument about Meghan.
Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have not officially responded to the Sussexes’ allegations.
Recent reports suggest that King Charles may be willing to mend bridges with his youngest son, even if Prince William does not want to.
A “friend” of Prince Harry, cited by a source in the Mail on Sunday, has reportedly devised a strategy to bring Prince Harry back into British society.
A source told the magazine they believed Prince Harry could win over the hearts of the British public again if he returned to the UK “without fuss” and held “everyday” events.
They warned that this could only happen if certain members of the royal family gave their permission.
Prince Harry’s former private secretary, Edward Lane Fox, has been named as a possible candidate for a return but told the Mail he had no opinion on the matter.
Given the terms of the Sandringham summit which decided the Sussexes’ role outside the royal family, a return to the royal family could prove more difficult than the Duke imagines.
Harry and Meghan were thought to have wanted to step back from royal duties but stepped down completely following an agreement between the Duke, the late Queen, King Charles and Prince William.
The idea of ​​the Sussexes occasionally representing the King whilst striking favourable trade deals was a risk to the royal family’s reputation which the House of Windsor is thought to have been unwilling to do.
It remains to be seen whether Harry will be able to renegotiate or renew the contract he signed in 2020.
