Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has officially announced the new release date for his much-awaited film Pushpa 2: The Rule. Initially scheduled for December 6, the theatrical release is now scheduled for December 5, 2024. The film reportedly faced delays due to production schedules.
The newly released poster features Allu Arjun in his typical Pushpa Raj avatar, donning a shiny blue shirt, holding a pistol in one hand, smoking a pipe and with piles of money in the background. The performance highlights his outsized personality and creates waves of excitement among his fans.
At the film’s final press meet in Hyderabad, producer Naveen Jerneni commented on the delay. He said the film’s initial August release has been pushed to December. “We considered a few dates after rescheduling it from August 15. With films like The Lion King releasing in cinemas, we were aiming for a date that would get us to as many cinemas as possible and December 5 was the best option,” he said.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 promises to continue the dark and suspenseful drama of its predecessor Pushpa: The Rise (2021). The film stars Allul Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles, with a strong supporting cast that includes Jagadeesh Pratap Bhandari, Jagapati Babu, Prakash Raj and Anasuya Bharadwaj. The technical team includes cameraman Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, editor Naveen Noori and composer Devi Sri Prasad.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Lightings, the action drama is one of the most expensive Telugu films with a reported budget of around Rs 500 crore. Three years after Pushpa: The Rise, fans are eagerly awaiting Arjun’s return to the big screen as the rebellious Pushpa Raj.
Meanwhile, the December 5 release date will help Pushpa 2 avoid a direct clash with Vicky Kaushal’s Chhava, which is scheduled to release on December 6.
