The NBA playoffs are in full swing, but that’s not enough to keep Hall of Famer and analyst Shaquille O’Neal away from this fascinating hip-hop drama.
The dispute between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, which began after the former targeted the latter and J. Cole in Future’s song “Like That,” has the industry on edge as several other artists, including Rick Ross and Metro Boomin, remain nameless. Join them and choose a side.
One artist who was not part of the gang but joined of his own volition is Kanye West. The 24-time Grammy Award winner has abandoned his anti-establishment line against Drake to rekindle his long-standing relationship with the Canadian superstar. West has jumped into a war of words, upsetting hip-hop fans and leading radio host Charlamagne the God to slam him on his podcast, “The Brilliant Idiots.” He said:
“I don’t want Kendrick (Lamar) to answer, because Kanye West cheapens everything…Metro (Boomin), Future, listen up guys, because L.O.L. Look, what’s included – the leader of the Lames – If you’re with Kanye, you’re a member of the Legion of Lames. I don’t want to see Future with them, I don’t want to see Metro with them. I don’t want to see it, and I don’t want Kendrick involved. Drake, you win, buddy.”
Shaquille O’Neal apparently agrees with Charlamagne. He shared a clip from the podcast on his Instagram Stories, indicating that he too wants to end the conflict following West’s involvement.
Analyst O’Neal is outspoken about his opinions on basketball, and rapper O’Neal follows the same philosophy when expressing his opinions on the music scene.
Shaquille O’Neal Reveals His Disapproval of Kanye West
This wasn’t the first time Shaquille O’Neal made public his disdain for Kanye West using a clip with Charlamagne . Last week, he shared a video of The Breakfast Club in which the host went on a rant about the rapper. He said:
“(Kanye West) is unhappy and has never dealt with the hurt and pain he feels. He just wants to project it onto other people. I have to get away from Kanye in the future.” Metro, what are you doing? Everyone should get the hell away from Kanye West…Kanye is over, everything has gotten cheesy. It was funny until he brought his jealous, envious ass into the picture.”
O’Neal has not been a fan of West’s behavior for a while and has frequently voiced his disparaging opinions on Instagram. In February, he released a clip criticizing the rapper as a dangerous and influential person.
He even commented on one of West’s posts criticizing his behavior at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in February. O’Neal apparently can’t stand West and has made no secret of his disdain for the controversial rapper.
