Suri Cruise gave Dawson’s Creek fans a sense of déjà vu this week as she attended her high school prom in New York City.
Her mother, Katie Holmes, 45, famously played the role of Joey Potter on the hit WB teen drama, which aired for six seasons from 1998 to 2003.
Suri, 18, looked on as Katie spit-eyed as she took a photo with her prom date, Toby Cohen before jumping into an SUV with friends.
Fans who saw the photo were immediately reminded of the iconic Dawson’s Creek episode from season three, in which Joey goes to prom with Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek).
In episode 22, titled “Anti-Prom,” Joey, in the midst of a love triangle with Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson), plans a special prom for her Capeside High School classmates, and Dawson takes her out as his date.
Like Suri’s prom outfit, Joey’s outfit consisted of a spaghetti strap dress, minimal jewelry, and classic ’90s lipstick.
The episode aired on May 17, 2000, nearly six years before Suri was born on April 18, 2006.
The teenager was on her way to prom on Tuesday night, but was first spotted arriving after strolling through the Ascent Lounge before boarding a waiting vehicle.
She appeared to be in good spirits, laughing a lot while chatting with her friends, including Toby, a high school senior and aspiring musician who was apparently accompanying the teen as her date to the momentous event.
Toby attends LaGuardia High School with Suri and will be attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston in the fall, while Suri attends Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
Holmes was not there, but a woman in a black coat was taking photos of Suri, who turns 18 in April.
Meanwhile, her estranged father, actor Tom Cruise, who has been spending a lot of time in London recently, was last seen piloting a helicopter.
At the prom, Suri looked stunning in a floral corset-like dress with maroon piping.
The dancer wore strappy gold high heels as she walked barefoot to the important event in New York.
Suri was wearing a purple flower pin on her wrist, given to her by her prom date, Toby, revealing that the teenager was following tradition.
She wore her hair parted in the middle and worn loose in soft summer waves.
Three weeks ago, Suri was spotted looking at dresses in New York City, leading to speculation that she might be attending prom this summer. The star was spotted at a clothing store in Lower Manhattan.
However, the dress could belong to her fashion-conscious mother Katie, who recently revealed that her only child often “steals” clothes from her closet. Holmes is known to wear designer clothes from friends such as Zac Posen.
Cruise also hinted at where she will be studying when she wore a Carnegie Mellon University sweatshirt in early June.

Carnegie Mellon School of Design is one of the oldest and most highly regarded programs in the country.
Now, with acceptance into its hallowed halls, a stunningly chic mother and a wardrobe reportedly worth $5 million, Suri will be off to a great start if she pursues this path.
