A teacher who had sex with two of her pupils, including one who gave birth to a baby, has been found guilty of all charges.

Rebecca Joines, 30, was found guilty of sexual relations with two students after a trial at Manchester Crown Court.

After being found guilty, Joines, who began crying after the sentence was read out, was bailed until sentencing.

Judge Kate Cornell told Joines: “If you are aware of this I am prepared to grant bail on the same conditions. She must serve probation before being sentenced,” adding: “Rebecca Joines is a sex offender.” Her actions had a lasting impact on her.

“The CPS worked with Greater Manchester Police to build a strong case for the jury, including witness statements, telephone evidence showing messages sent by Joynes, and CCTV footage.

“ We would like to thank the victims for their support to law enforcement. Mr. Joines will now face the consequences of his actions.”

The court heard that Ms. Joines, a maths teacher, I heard that she had a child with one of her students, known as Boy B for legal reasons, when she was only one year old. She is 15 years old.

The relationship turned sexual After he turned 16, the court heard Joynes and Boy B had sex about 30 times after he took her virginity.

At the time of this relationship, Joines was out on bail for having sex twice with another student (who was 15 years old at the time). According to her complaint, she “groomed” him during her shopping trip.

During the trial, Ms Joines was regularly seen wearing a baby bonnet, which she held in her hand as the trial proceeded.

Ms Joines, who shared evidence earlier this week, said she was lonely when they met and “loved” the attention she received after they broke up.

However, she denied that she had any “strong” sexual attraction to the two teenagers.

The jury found Joynes guilty of two counts of sexual activity with Boy A, two counts of sexual activity with Boy B, and two counts of sexual activity with Boy B while in a position of trust.

Before sentencing, Ms Joines told the jury that her “dream job” had been ruined by a “mistake”, but that her relationship with Boy B had turned sexual. He said that Boy B was 16 years old (the age of consent in the US and UK).

The trial saw Joynes given a note she had allegedly written to the boy, in which she described him as “perfect”.

The note said: “I know we are struggling right now and are both extremely stressed. But I really hope we can work something out to keep this going for a while longer.

“Every inch of you is perfect and you are all I ever dream about.”

According to the prosecution, the relationship began after Joynes sent a picture of herself in underwear when they first started speaking on Snapchat.

The victim told jurors: “As a 16-year-old lad I thought I was in there.”

He said that after they shared their first kiss in Joynes’ Salford flat, she straddled him and took his virginity. They would go on to have sex in “numerous different places”, he added.

The victim also noted how Joynes had said it was “nearly impossible” for her to get pregnant due to her having polycystic ovary syndrome.

He later revealed that Joynes revealed to him she was pregnant by presenting him with a babygrow that said: “I love my daddy to the moon and back.”

The victim said “what the f**k” and soon attempted to end the relationship, adding: “I would try and end it and would say ‘you are a f***ing weirdo, you’re a nonce basically, go find someone your own age’.”

She was also accused of grooming Boy A, then aged 15, by taking him shopping at Selfridges.

The court heard that she purchased a £345 Gucci belt before driving to her home where they had sex twice.

The boy claimed Joynes had laughed when he mentioned his age to her, telling him to “shut up”.

This incident occurred in 2021 and she was subsequently arrested after a police investigation in October of that year. She was arrested and placed on bail on the condition she did not contact any child under 18.
