Two men have been charged with murder in connection with a house fire in Bradford which killed a mother and her three children.
Bryony Gawith, 29, and her children, Denisty Bartle, nine, Oscar Bartle, five, and 22-month-old Aubrey Bartle, died when their home was “deliberately set on fire” last Wednesday.
Two men have now been charged with murder and one count of attempted murder.
Mohammed Shabbir, 44, of Alice Street, Keighley, and Callum Sunderland, 25, of Calton Street, Keighley, will appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Police say four other people are still under investigation.
They include a 39-year-old man who is in hospital in a serious condition after being arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
Another 36-year-old man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and has been released on bail after questioning.
Two other people, a 54-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man, were arrested on Monday on suspicion of aiding and abetting a crime.
Both have been questioned and released on bail.
The fire started at a house on Westbury Road just before 2.10am. Neighbours were woken by screams as smoke poured from the house into the street.
Briony, known to many as B, was described by her family as “the life and soul of all parties”.
“B was a beautiful woman who was always so happy, cheerful, energetic and looked out for everyone and was loved by all. Her children meant everything to her throughout her life,” the family said in an obituary.
“Augie had a cheeky smile and was a sassy but shy boy; Straws was shy and timid with big blue eyes and blonde hair; and Chuck was a beautiful, confident, outgoing and creative young girl.”
Briony’s fiancé Jonathan, father of three, said he was “totally devastated”.
“I loved her dearly, and would take her place in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose.” “I can’t imagine life without her,” he said.
“I will never forget them, and they will always be in my heart.”
