The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) is aiming to harmonise the capabilities of Emirati national talents with the skills required by the job market and national industrial companies, an official said.

“The requirements include skilled individuals who can fulfil technical jobs in factories and companies operating in sectors such as agricultural technologies, food and beverages, electric and hybrid vehicles.

The service sector, oil and gas, packaging, advanced industries, construction and real estate, and quality infrastructure,” Salama Al Awadhi, director of National Value Added at the MoIAT, told UAE Breaking news.

Al Awadhi noted that the MoIAT is “working to cultivate” the UAE’s deep talent pool of nationals through programmes and initiatives designed to empower and upskill them.

“Programs like Pioneers 4.0 and Industrialist Career Exhibition offer in-person interviews as well as training programs at some of the nation’s leading training centers,” she said.

More than 4,200 Emirati youth from across the UAE attended the second Businessman Careers Exhibition held in Abu Dhabi last month.

The exhibition, organized by MoIAT, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE), Emirates Human Resources Competition Council (Nafis) and ADNOC, will feature 10,000 trade deals with over 83 companies from the country’s top industrial sectors. “It also gives encouragement to our country’s youth, especially women, for one year and through apprenticeship programs,” she added.

She said this year’s career fair provided participants with an opportunity to learn new skills to prepare them for future industry success.

Asked about the challenges in finding the right people, she emphasized that the education system empowers students.

“The UAE has a rich pool of local talent and the Ministry is working hard to identify this talent and facilitate their careers in the private sector. One of the biggest challenges is finding the skills to meet the needs of future industries.

“Fortunately, the UAE’s education system is evolving to provide future skills in areas such as AI and quantum physics.” “Furthermore, the training programs offered through the Industrialist Career Exhibition are specifically designed to equip talent with the right skills for future industries, thereby contributing to the sustainability of the country’s industrial sector. It supports the long-term outlook,” Al Awadi said.

Ms Al Awadi is optimistic about the future role of Emirati women in the private sector, especially in the developed sector.
