President Sheikh Mohamed discussed ways to achieve shared interests duding a phone call with the President of the European Commission
In a telephone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Sheikh Mohammed discussed UAE-European Union relations and ways to strengthen relations to achieve common interests.
The two leaders also discussed several regional and international issues of mutual interest, with a particular focus on developments in the Middle East.
In this regard, the leaders stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon and the need to ensure the full protection of civilians in accordance with international law, while guaranteeing the safe and adequate delivery of humanitarian assistance to alleviate civilian suffering.
Both sides also stressed the need to make all necessary efforts to contain regional tensions and prevent the escalation of conflicts that threaten regional security and stability, while advocating for a fair, comprehensive and lasting one peace based on a two-State solution.
The UAE President reaffirmed the strategic relations between the UAE and the European Union and its member states, and the UAE’s commitment to strengthening relations to achieve mutual development for all. He also expressed support for joint Gulf-European cooperation that benefits both sides, noting that the UAE looks forward to exploring new opportunities to expand trade and investment relations and strengthen partnerships and national surveys with other countries.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed the UAE’s determination to work with regional and international actors, including the European Union, to prevent the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East and provide humanitarian assistance to civilians. He praised the European Union’s humanitarian role in this context.
Ursula von der Leyen expressed her appreciation for the UAE’s support for regional stability and its efforts and humanitarian efforts in Gaza and Lebanon. She also praised the cooperation between the UAE, the European Union and their institutions in various fields.
