UAE weather: Red alert issued due to persistent fog; temperatures to hit 49ºC today

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a warning to motorists regarding poor visibility caused by fog formation on Saturday morning (June 1).

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert, informing residents of poor horizontal visibility, which may worsen at times until 8.30am.

In a social media post, Abu Dhabi Police warned motorists about poor visibility on roads in and outside the emirate. Authorities advised motorists to reduce speed and follow road safety guidelines.

A dense fog warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department since Wednesday (29 May) and the fog is expected to continue until today.

Mostly clear skies are expected in the UAE today. It will be humid over parts of the coastline during the night from Saturday to Sunday.

The Meteorological Department has announced that temperatures inland will reach up to 49°C.

The Meteorological Department also highlighted that temperatures in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will reach 45°C and 42°C respectively.

There will be light to moderate winds over the country, strengthening at times.

The waters will be shallow to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and shallow in the Sea of ​​Oman.
