Police have urgently called for a search for two dogs which may be involved in the death of a man in the West Midlands.
A photo of one of the dogs has been released after officers found the man dead in a back garden in Rubery in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Officers said they were called to the property after several dogs had escaped.
Two dogs have been seized but two others which may have been there are still missing.
Police believe a 33-year-old man was attacked by at least one animal which may have led to his death.
“We absolutely need to speak to anyone who sees this dog and it’s important that if you see it, you do not approach it and call 999 immediately,” Inspector Leanne Chapman warned.
West Midlands Police thought the dogs were not a banned breed but were an American bulldog variety.
She said the dog, which is not pictured, was black.
“If you or someone you know has adopted a dog after discovering it missing you should call us as soon as possible,” Inspector Chapman added.
The incident happened in Hereford Close, Rubery, around 11 miles southwest of Birmingham.
The incident came just days after a 53-year-old man was killed by an XL-sized bully dog in Accrington, Lancashire.
In that case, police said they had “no option” but to shoot the dog.
XL-sized bully dogs have been banned following a series of attacks. Owners now need an exemption and must follow rules such as requiring dogs to be muzzled and on a lead in public places.
It is also illegal to sell, breed, abandon or give away dogs.
