Dr Mosley’s wife describes agony searching for missing husband

As the search continues on the Greek island of Symi, the wife of missing TV and radio presenter Michael Mosley said “we are not giving up hope”.

The 67-year-old man went missing after going for a walk on Wednesday.

His wife, Dr Claire Bailey Mosley, said in a statement that the days since his disappearance have been “the longest and most excruciating”.

A search and rescue operation was organised on Saturday for Dr Mosley, known for his TV show and Radio 4 podcast “Just One Thing”, to resume operations.

In her statement, Dr Bailey Mosley said: “It has been three days since Michael left the beach to go for a walk. These are the longest and most excruciating days for me and my children.

“The search continues and our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the people of Symi, the Greek authorities and the British Consulate General who are working tirelessly to find Michael.
“We will not give up hope.” Bailey Mosley has searched the island with the help of friends. The couple’s four children have also arrived on Symi to help with the search.

Who is missing TV star Michael Mosley?

Michael Mosley went missing on Wednesday at around 1:30pm local time (11:30am GMT) after leaving his wife on the beach in Agios Nikolaos.
His wife later reported him to the doctor. Mosley was registered as missing as he did not have a mobile phone.

The mountainous terrain has been described as “not easy” by searchers.
An anonymous police source told that the new images show the man in good condition and walking confidently.

On Saturday, firefighters began a search in a four-mile (6.5-kilometer) radius in the mountainous area surrounded by the sea.
When asked if there had been any sign of Dr. Mosley, he said, “There was nothing.”

One theory floating around is that Dr. Mosley wanted to take a much longer route than previously thought, across miles of unprotected mountain slopes.
Dr. Mosley’s accommodation was in the town center, about 1.6 miles from Peddie.

So far, police and firefighters have been using drones, helicopters and sniffer dogs to help search for the missing presenter. According to the Symi Coast Guard, divers, as well as patrol boats, private and commercial vessels, conducted the underwater search.

Simis Mayor Eleftherios Papakardoukas said the search would continue until Dr. Mosley was found.
He added that he did not know why a missing presenter would make a long and potentially difficult journey in this heat, but he hoped the presenter would be found “alive and safe.”

Before turning to television, Dr Mosley studied medicine in London and graduated as a doctor, but in recent decades he has worked as a presenter, documentary filmmaker, journalist and author.
He has appeared on One’s The One Show and ITV’s This Morning.

His wife, Dr Bailey Mosley, is a doctor, author and healthy lifestyle advocate.

The pair recently performed at Hay Festival. Mosley presented a special edition of Just One Thing.
Reacting to the “shocking news”, his Trust Me, I’m a Doctor co-star Dr Saleha Ahsan said she was “praying that he would be found unharmed” but was “sick with worry”.

On Thursday’s edition of The One Show, presenter Alex Jones opened the show expressing concern that “our friend” was gone.
“Our thoughts are with his wife Claire and the rest of the family at this difficult time. We hope for further positive news,” she added. 44.44
