Andrew Tate was placed under house arrest in Romania.

Romanian prosecutors asked for an additional 30 days of detention for Tate, but his brother Tristan was given more lenient terms by the country’s authorities.

Previously, Tate and Tristan were among six people detained as part of a human trafficking and sexual exploitation investigation.

The search of the controversial influencer’s home came this week following new charges against him.

Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, announced on Wednesday that it had conducted searches of four homes in Bucharest and the neighboring county of Ilfov on suspicion of human trafficking, trafficking in minors, sex with minors, influencing speech and money laundering.

It is not yet clear which of the six suspects each individually faces charges.

Dozens of police and forensic experts were seen searching Tate’s vast property on the outskirts of the capital Bucharest, with the former professional kickboxer’s brother seen on video chasing police out of the house.

Tate’s spokesman Mateea Petrescu said yesterday following the raids that “the charges in the search warrant have not yet been fully resolved but include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering,” adding that his lawyers are currently

Petrescu did not comment on the allegations concerning minors.

Tate, 37, and Tristan, 36, grew up in Luton and have millions of followers on social media. The brothers also appeared on the UK version of Big Brother in 2016.

The brothers have described themselves as misogynists and their views, shared on social media platforms such as TikTok and X, have been heavily criticised, particularly as they have a largely young, male audience.
