Taylor Swift has voiced her support for Kamala Harris after the vice-president faced off against J.D. Vance in the first US presidential debate.
Pop megastar Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for US president tonight, delivering a scathing “cat lady” rant after the Democratic candidate humiliated Donald Trump in the epic debate.
The pop superstar sparked a frenzy on social media on Tuesday night after the heated presidential debate, pledging her support for Harris on her Instagram page, after Kamala appeared to land a devastating blow to Trump.
In a lengthy post accompanied by a photo of her holding a cat, she mocked President Trump’s Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, who she had previously mocked as a “childless cat girl”. The insult was turned on its head by Harris supporters who formed the group “Cat Ladies for Harris.”
Taylor wrote: If you haven’t already, now is a good time to educate yourself on current issues and where the candidates stand on the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I try to monitor and read everything I can about policies and plans being proposed for our country.
“Recently, it was brought to my attention that an AI posted content on a website that falsely endorsed Donald Trump’s candidacy for president. This reinforced my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. This made me realize that as a voter, we need more transparency about the actual plans for this election. The easiest way to fight misinformation is to know the truth.”
Taylor acknowledged that she would likely vote for Harris and running mate Tim Walz because she is close to them and they fight “for rights and causes.”
She added, “I intend to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for President in 2024.” I am voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for rights and causes, and I believe we need warriors to represent them. I see her as a calm and talented leader, and believe we can accomplish more in this country if we are guided by calm, not chaos. I am so encouraged and impressed by the selection of @timwalz as your running mate, who has championed LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s rights over their own bodies for decades.

I also want to remind everyone, especially first-time voters, that you need to register to vote. I think it’ll be a lot easier to vote early as well. The pop superstar has endorsed Harris, just as she did for President Joe Biden in 2020. The “Love Story” singer has not hidden her political views and has been open about them throughout her career, and she often uses her platform to encourage her fans to vote.
