Strictly Come Dancing star Nick Knowles will soon be showing off his newfound dancing skills at a wedding while his future wife goes dress shopping.
Despite the 27-year age gap, the romance between Nick, who revealed his Strictly destiny on Thursday, and his fiancée Katie Dassey, a 34-year-old businesswoman and mother of two, has been going strong since they first met. 2019. And as bride-to-be Katie steps out to shop for a wedding dress, it looks like the happy couple’s big day is fast approaching. The mother-of-three was all smiles as she stepped out to try on a white dress in London on Friday. Accompanied by her grandmother, her mother Lizzie and maid of honour, Katie embarked on one of the biggest tasks on her wedding to-do list.
Katie and Nick’s lives became intertwined when Katie’s daughters befriended Nick’s youngest son Eddie, 8, at a play centre. Since then, the pair have been unashamedly showing their affection for each other. They made waves last year when they were photographed together while Katie showed off her luxury lingerie.
The provocative snap, which sees Katie in a revealing light pink outfit helping Nick “straighten his straps”, was part of a tribute to Nick’s 61st birthday and certainly attracted attention, but Katie justified the huge age difference between herself and Nick.
Last year, Nick hit back hard when he went public with his relationship with Katie, hitting back at those who criticised his romance with a younger woman. After being photographed with his future wife, Nick wrote on Twitter (X) in January: “The woman I was at dinner with when I was photographed is 32, has a double degree, runs three businesses, is the mother of two children, is wealthier and more successful than I am and is intelligent and independent-minded, unlike the nasty trolls who attack her. “
He later told The Sun: “I normally never comment on trolling but at one point I got angry on Katie’s behalf when people were being a bit rash. I expect that from myself as I chose to be on TV but I don’t want the people I care about to have to deal with it. “The reason I’m defending Katie is because people are making assumptions about her without knowing anything about her so I’ve spoken out.”
It will hopefully be a case of ‘third time’s a charm’ for Nick when he weds Katie, as the Strictly contestant has been married twice before. Nick was previously hitched to his first wife Gillian Knowles from 1996 to 2000, with whom he shares a son and daughter. He then romanced his second wife Jessica Rose Moor starting from 2009; they tied the knot in September 2012 but parted ways in 2017. In total, Nick is a proud father of four children.
Nick has often spoken warmly about fatherhood. In December 2022, he said: “Having an eight-year-old son at the age of 60 is the most wonderful thing in the world. It keeps you young, makes you see the world through new eyes. It reminds you of your own fascination with the world and all there is to see and do.
We have a map of the world in his bedroom, and before bedtime, we go through and he names four countries in each continent. I want him to know there’s a big world out there, to travel and meet people the way I have, because it gives you a much greater understanding of humankind.”
