Liam Payne’s heartbroken sister Nicola has spoken out for the first time following her brother’s sudden death.
The tragic former One Direction star died aged 31 after falling from a balcony in Buenos Aires last Wednesday. His devastated family are still trying to come to terms with the news, and his sister said she hopes he has “found peace”.
“I got chills when I saw the message on my phone saying you had left us,” she wrote on social media. “I was hoping it wasn’t so true.” I spent days hoping it was a mistake.
“You were truly too good for this earth, you are an angel who lived to make people smile and be happy. You were always kind to everyone you met. It just shows how many of you confirmed what we’ve always known.
“We don’t have many photos together because we’ve never really done that as a family. We never wanted it to feel like we were in a room full of fans. But we have been your biggest fans – always and forever.”
She continued, “Your talent alone will get you miles ahead, but so will being you. You’ve lived your life by the motto, ‘Why bother doing anything if you’re not talented?'” Liam, you were absolutely amazing in everything you did!
“Unfortunately in this cruel world, we are always too quick to judge people based on a five second clip. They think it’s enough to talk about you as if they knew you. We knew you and we loved you.
“I hope you finally find peace on earth and continue to look after us all as you always have. I will make sure Bear knows about his father and how much you loved him. I promise,” she said as she bid farewell, “See you soon, Liam. Love you, xx.”
The singer’s devastating death is being treated as “inconclusive” as police try to establish exactly what happened last week. A post-mortem examination revealed the father of one died from a number of medical injuries sustained in a fall from the balcony of his suite.
