Brian Cox weighed in on the current Labour government as he appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

Brian Cox this morning slammed Keir Starmer and the Labour government, saying that cutting the Winter Fuel Allowance would be a “problem” for the Prime Minister. Appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the 78-year-old actor told presenters Ed Balls and Susanna Reid his thoughts on how the country is currently being run.

He said: “I think the issue is about the Winter Fuel Allowance for older people. I mean, I just think it’s a bad proposal.”

Brian continued: “I mean, I really think he’s inherited an impossible position from the Conservatives, there’s no doubt about that.”

Susanna presented the legendary actor with this: “With all due respect, do we not need the Winter Fuel Allowance?” she asked, to which he replied: “No, we don’t.” But there are other people who need it too!’

The GMB presenter continued to back the Labour Government, saying: ‘Their argument is that universal benefits will be given to the many people who can afford to pay their own energy bills.’

But Brian didn’t back down, saying it was about ‘principle’. He added: “I think older people deserve it. We all paid tax, regardless of what they’ve done. And the wealthier we are, the more tax we pay.”

Ed asked what he thought, referring to former British Prime Minister Clement Attlee, who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1945 to 1951.

Brian mocked recent claims about Keir, saying: “Clement Attlee drove himself everywhere. Clement Attlee was a very extraordinary person.

“He wouldn’t have needed gifts for his clothes or anything like that. This shouldn’t have happened.”

The comments come after Sir Keir was criticised for accepting lavish gifts including thousands of pounds worth of footballs and Taylor Swift concert tickets.

It was recently revealed that he received £16,000 worth of clothing from wealthy Labour MP Waheed Ali, but the Prime Minister announced it was a donation to his private office.
