Chelsea footballer Enzo Fernandes has had his driving licence disqualified for two traffic offences.

He was sentenced at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court in Carmarthenshire on Wednesday after being convicted of failing to identify the driver of a Porsche Cayenne on 27 December last year.

The 23-year-old was also convicted of a separate offence of failing to identify the driver of a vehicle on 24 January.

The driver of the car was allegedly caught speeding on Carmarthen Road in Swansea and, in a separate incident, running a red light on Church Street in Llanelli.

In neither case could it be established that Fernandez was the driver of the car.

The midfielder has been with Chelsea since last year and played for Argentina in their 2022 World Cup-winning season.

He also won the 2024 Copa America with the national team after previously playing for River Plate and Benfica.
The Argentine apologised last year after he was seen singing racist songs with his Argentine teammates during an Instagram Live stream.

Fernandes did not attend sentencing and his case was heard in his absence.

He was fined £1,000 for each offence and must pay costs of £110 each to Dyfed-Powys Police and South Wales Police.

He must also pay a surcharge of £800 for the offences, taking the total to £3,020.

He received a total of 12 penalty points for both offences.

These are in addition to the nine penalty points already recorded on his driving licence.

During sentencing, Wynne Edwards said Fernandez would therefore be disqualified for six months from Wednesday.
