The popular Britain’s Got Talent contestant who starred alongside David Walliams in the final has passed away.

Tributes continue to pour in following Will Reid’s death at the age of 51 after a battle with cancer. He died at home on August 7 surrounded by friends and siblings. Will was best known for his role in the 2012 hit comedy film Show Bears.

They made a name for themselves in their rhinestone-encrusted sailor suits during that year’s live semi-final, when TV comedian David joined them onstage during the final. Will then toured Europe with Gloria Estefan’s band, performing everywhere.

“Will, a resident of Macclesfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 7th 2024 at the age of 51,” the artist’s obituary reads. “Beloved son of Kate, loving brother of Tom, cherished brother-in-law of Marianne and great uncle of Jimmy and Liam. Will was an accomplished musician with exceptional percussion, drumming and vocal skills.

“During his successful career as a musical director, he toured with Gloria Estefan and travelled the world. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and colleagues. Some friends and fans took to Facebook to express their condolences.”

One person wrote: “Will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.” And another added: “Rest in peace Will.” One of Will’s most memorable moments was when he shared the stage with Walliams in 2012.

It was when David’s eyes lit up as the five-piece band appeared in sparkly sailor suits and belted out an emotional version of The Weather Girls’ “It’s Raining Men,” except they changed the lyrics to “We’re Sailor Men.” The entire show was broadcast live on television.

“I just want to join in and sing this song with you. “I want you to go get me some costumes,” he told the group before doing so. He pretended not to want to go on stage, but then ran over to them and shouted with joy, “I might be too busy to do it!” “You should hear it,”

he said, before sliding effortlessly into a dance routine. After the dance, David admitted he was “in heaven,” and Amanda laughed, saying, “The royal family would love that.”
