Several women have reportedly come forward about allegations of inappropriate behaviour by Jermaine Jenas.

The 41-year-old former footballer and presenter is known for presenting programmes such as Match of the Day and The One Show. It was announced today that Jenas has been fired by the BBC following allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

“can confirm that he is no longer with us”, before saying that Jermaine had subsequently argued that “there are two sides to every story” and was in court. Rep.

The company terminated Jenas’ contract this week after it reportedly received a complaint about text messages sent by the presenter last month and launched an investigation. He has since said he is “not happy” with the reports and that “there are two sides to every story”.

Other female employees are said to have come forward after the woman complained about the unsolicited messages. A source told The Sun: “The initial complaint was made after Jermaine sent flirtatious messages to staff at The One Show and she raised her concerns in an official capacity.

“The BBC recognises that concerns and complaints can no longer be ignored so the decision was taken to remove him from the air and terminate his contract immediately and after a routine investigation. They acted swiftly and decisively,” it said, adding that “Jermaine’s actions are in no way related to those of former BBC news presenter Huw Edwards” and that “there was no evidence of any illegality”.

BBC staff are shocked by the development. Director of sport Alex Kagelski emailed staff at 3.39pm on Thursday simply to say: “We just wanted to let you know that Jermaine Jenas no longer works for the BBC. There was no sense of confusion.”

“There were rumours that something was going on but bosses kept the investigation secret.” Staff at The One Show were kept in the dark about the allegations until Thursday morning.

“The situation at the BBC is very delicate at the moment because of the various scandals which have hit the organisation recently. Any suggestion of workplace misconduct meant they had to take tough action.

Jenas joined the BBC show in 2020 and became a permanent presenter a year later.” In a statement shared by a spokesperson for The Sun, Ms Jenas said: “I can’t speak to it at the moment. I can say I’m not happy – there are two sides to every story – and will be speaking to my lawyers about the matter.”

Jenas has reportedly had a planned appearance on talkSPORT cancelled.

Jenas was presenting talkSPORT’s drive-time programme when news of his dismissal broke on Thursday afternoon. He remained on air throughout the show and made no mention of his departure from the BBC. Jenas was seen having a tense phone conversation as he left the talkSPORT studio.

When questioned about sending unsolicited text messages to staff at The One Show, Jenas said on air: “As you know, I will be taking this up with my lawyers, that’s all I can say at this time.” When asked whether the allegations involved multiple colleagues or if he was surprised by the allegations, Jenas refused to answer.

Ms Jenas was unsure whether the programme was still on the air but the interviewer confirmed it was. An angry Jenas demanded it be “turned off”. He last appeared on The One Show on 22 July 2024, having appeared on Match of the Day just a few weeks prior.

The UAE breaking has contacted the BBC and Jenas’s representatives for comment.
